model behaviour

Well, after a weekend that started mid week and culminated in a 15 hour Champagne binge I'm planning a quiet one this week but then I've said that before. Almost my most exciting news is that I'm due to star in my company’s corporate brochure, I spent most of today at a photo shoot brilliantly portraying Ultra as an intelligent international professional company. haha, what fools!

My most exciting news is that I think I'm getting a little too blasé about travel. Ok that's not really the news but it stems from the fact I headed to the Philippines for the first time a week ago didn’t read up on the place, pack before the plane was due, get nervously excited about the flight or really see anything of the local life once there. That however is not to say I didn't have a great time.

Sean and I went to stay with Darren and in three short days he proved himself "King of Hosts". He put on an agenda that would be all but impossible for a mere mortal in any 1st world country, to do it in a place that's officially two numbers down from there….

The weekend got underway with a few of scuba dives, officially I'm only qualified to go to 18m so to get down to 28m was a great start but the highlight was the third plunge. A night dive into the depths, by this time I'd remembered pretty much what I was doing (it'd been over a year) and I could relax and drift along in the gentle current off the edge of a massive underwater cliff and got amazingly close to all sorts of fish, coral and crustaceans that I trapped in my torch's beam. The down side was me totally running out of air while still being 10 m bellow on the first dive and being stung all over my face by jelly fish on the second but everything comes at a price right!?!

Following the diving we hit the town and having eaten virtually for free in one of Cebu's best restaurants we hit the bars until the sun came up, not sure if the highlights was me being bullied into buying hookers drinks or Sean and Darren introducing themselves to the local transsexual community, happy happy days!

From Sunday morning on (or rather Sunday afternoon when we got up on) it all got a little more competitive and we hit the golf clubs and the casino. In the casino if we ignore the currency I won big, I decided to go crazy and risk 1000 big ones (Philippino pesos!) and after a couple of hours quite brilliant gambling walked out of the place over 5k in profit (or a round and a half of golf to the good to give it an international value). I'm pleased to report that Sean and Darren also left in profit but am able to retain a high level of smugness being the biggest of the big rollers.

As for the golf I did ok, it had been a while since I'd swung a club so can't claim to of been "that" good while winning Sunday’s competition but on Monday.... as I've said before, "Winner!"

Just because we could we had massages after each round and generally just lorded it for the weekend, I have to say I like Cebu!

Unfortunately I'm stuck back in the real world and staring at a PC at 8pm now so should head home, until the next time.
