Sophisticated in’it!

The breaking news is I have a cleaner! it only took 6 months to sort out so wasn't much of a job for her and I now have a shiny clean flat and all I have to do is remember to leave a couple of hundred dollars out each Friday. I may be getting far too domesticated in my old age but it is nice waking up on a Saturday morning to a clean flat. (for some reason I can't quite fathom I never seem to notice it when I get home on a Friday night!)

Possible being triggered by my total lack of money and the blood thing I’ve started a bit of a health and economy drive, so far its going rather well. I now try to have a glass of water before starting on beer every night and I now water my pot plant with tap water rather than using the bottled stuff which I keep conveniently by my bed (and therefore plant as rooms a little small). It may not sound like I’m doing that impressively but from tiny acorns…

My other health based initiative comes because after my blood tests the doc pointed out that alcohol was a diuretic so I should stay off the drink for a while. I proceeded to watch most of the remaining pitiful world cup games sober however it has since occurred to me that if alcohol isn't particularly good at re-hydrating you, the obvious solution is to drink more of it, so...

Other than that I saw Coldplay a couple of weeks ago and they were actually really good (the South china Morning Post said “13000 saw Coldplay ‘rock’ in one of HK’s best gigs ever…!” - that said so few bands come here they always say that!), my job appears to be turning into a real job though there’s still no real idea of exactly what we’re trying to achieve long turn and I pretended to be sophisticated last Saturday by throwing a dinner party!

Even if I do say so myself it all went rather well though that may have been more to do with the G&T’s, Champagne and 10 bottles of wine the six of us managed to consume before heading out for last orders at about 3am!

The menu included pork liver pate (hummus option for Bev my token Vegan friend) with crusty bread and rocket and spinach salad, not just any Thai green curry but my green curry (even if Bev didn’t believe I could really make such a thing from scratch – the cheek of it!) with steamed leaves, a sorbet/ cocktail type substance I acquired from my local and loads of smelly cheese to finish, magic!

The points that detract from this proving I’m now a proper adult are that I served a cheesy hedgehog with the G&Ts (obviously), one friend had to bring a couple of chairs (the wheelchairs don’t fit under the table), another brought wine classes (Champagne and beer tankards isn’t right apparently), we kept our cutlery between courses not to be continental but as I only have 6 knives, forts and spoons and finally Bev took some of my clothes home with her to try to get the red wine I spilt on them out! Anyway, I think everyone had fun and that was the main thing!

And that’s me, My Green Curry recipes will be in the shops shortly but for now, bonjour!
