Back!

Oh yes, if my previous email was about how quiet it had been I'm pleased to say I've turned it around. I've had a good month...

It started with a friend getting me into a fashion industry party, now I don’t often feel short or old in HK but, when in a club full of 16-18 year old 6 foot something models (female) it can happen. Needless to say I had a good night even if I didn't have a great deal in common with anyone there save my mates. The highlight could've been when a booking agent gave me her card, however her colleague who'd invited me had told her I wanted a few photos to put on my blog so not quite so impressive...

Even though we're now in the seriously heavy rainy season, for a mate’s birthday we were barbequing a couple of weeks ago. He's moving house soon so we had to help clear some of the wine cellar and so with a rather large glass of red in my hand I took the role as head chef. Although I begrudgingly agreed to cook some vegetables mostly I cooked meat, meat and more meat, happy days!

To keep the medical and meat eating news that I know you love coming I strongly recommend not going to Brazilian BBQs in Tsim Sha Tsui. The unlimited meat and beer is good, the having to stay within a few metres of the bathroom for days afterwards less so!

In more pleasant news, I've just (barely) survived Ben and Will being in town for four days where I worked and they slept between sun rise and sun set and we all drank the rest of the time. They had just travelled the Trans-Siberian Railway and we finished their trip in some style with Bev's xxth birthday party on their last night.

She insisted that about 30 of us got dressed up in full black tie during the height of Hong Kong's sweating season while we sailed from Sai Kung to Central. Beyond the obvious effects of this it also meant I had to tie the bow tie of virtually every bloke on the boat that had a real tie and we all had one of the best nights Hong Kong has ever seen!

We cruised through the evening clearly having an infinitely better time than any other boat on any of the seven seas. Speeches were spoken, drinks drank and we danced all the way to Central then having struck land it was more dancing then cocktails then breakfast in a greasy spoon at about 4am, still in DJs and fancy frocks, class!

I'd love to be able to say that this week I'll mostly be sleeping, however having had yesterday up in Zhuhai (Southern China - where I discovered I can now use my HKID card and the thumb scan at customs rather than getting my already full passport stamped, clever no!?!) and tomorrow Dominic is in town for one night only which will bring us dangerously close to Friday again and ....

And that's me, so until the next time.

Love your liver,

Jonathan
