Kung Hei Fat Choy

That's Happy (Chinese) New Year!

The year of the dog started with a bang from god knows how many thousand fireworks and my older sister (though to look at everyone guessed younger) and Meagan (my mate from Africa/ Oz and or China depending on how you look at it) visiting for the week.

I never knew this before but I fall into one of two very different styles of sightseeing. My method is to sit back and let things sort of wash over me as they feel like it as I cruse through, the other is a bit more intensive and is probably best described as sight hunting. This involves meticulous planning with lists and schedules. It actually means if you only have a few days somewhere you get to see and do everything but it isn't half tiring!

In brief, in the seven days around Chinese New Year we went to Stanley, Macau, Lantau, the night markets, the CNY parades, the biggest firework display ever. We visited the big Buddha, 10,000 little Buddhas ate masses of dim sum and hit every bar in town for a drink or two. It was great but you'd never of guessed it was my sister not me that couldn't really walk the way it knocked me out!

Beyond my visitor news, having queued up and pay countless times to get things other people said I had to have, I felt I was just about over being robbed a few weeks ago, however I keep remembering more and more things that were in the bag. They're only small things but when you want to use the spare film you know you have, or go to spend the HMV voucher you'd won only to realise they were in the bag, aaarrrrggghhhhhhhh...... still not happy.

But what can you do, serves me right for not renewing my insurance last October and I have just had a great week with Jane and Meagan and the mighty mighty England beat the welsh 47-13 in the 6 nations last night so bring on the year of the dog.
